What is Olivetol?
Olivetol is a natural polyphenolic compound with the chemical name 5-Pentylresorcinol, also known as 3,5-dihydroxypentylbenzene. It exists in lichens or is produced by certain insects, mainly obtained by degrading lichenic acid extracted from lichen plants.
The physical properties of olivetol include a melting point of 46-48°C, a boiling point of 313.3°C, and a density of 1.068 g/cm³. It is in powder form and is usually dissolved in DMSO. Storage conditions require that it be kept below -20°C and that repeated freezing and thawing is avoided.
